Paris Surf & Skateboard Film Festival 5th Edition / Sept.20+

PSSFF 2019

And four!

The Paris Surf and Skateboard Film Festival (PSSFF) crew is happy to invite you from the 26th to the 29th of september to its new edition at L’Entrepôt (Paris 14). This year again, the PSSFF is pursuing its goal to put the creativity and the diversity of surfing and skateboarding’s independent productions in the spotlight.

The Festival will open up withthe off-competition screening of The Tony Alva Story, as a french premiere. For this occasion, the PSSFF is happy to welcome the oldest professional skateboarder still in activity to this day, the legendary Z-Boy, Mr. Tony Alva. He will preside our 2019 jury made of Justine Mauvin, Elisabeth Gomis, Jonathan Paskowitz, Pedro Winter and David Luraschi. Together, they will deliver 4 prizes amongst 14 films, documentaries and short movies, surf and skateboard.

The surf selection explores the discipline’s history and mythology, intertwining individual pursuits and collective adventures, through sentient portraits of champion Lisa Andersen (Trouble), the saga of the best big waves surfers of the century (White Rhino) and the untold story of surfing’s debuts in Santa Monica (Spoons).
The skateboard selection offers a tender and abrasive portrait of a youth who suffers from society’s misunderstanding, through the prism of singular stories: life at a skatepark in Chili through the eyes of two dogs (Los Reyes), the wacky roadtrip of a group of danish female skateboarders (Dont’ Give a Fox) and Cheq Republic’s skateboarding history (King Skate).
Finally, two short movies programs give an actual and original insight on surfing and skateboarding: Moustic en Surf, A Day in the Life of Cher, Tan, Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone, Kamali, Flux, Bowl de campagne et How to Learn How to Surf.

This edition of the Paris Surf and Skateboard Film Festival, keeping as a redline the questionning about the actual place and futur of women in these two activities, will close down with thescreening of Skate Kitchen, a movie paying tribute to women’s skateboarding.

On the side of the official selection, the OFF Festival focuses on surfing and skateboarding’s cultures under different lights by proposing, with free access, exclusive and cult videos screenings (YOD de Thomas Campbell, Self Discovery for Social Survival de Chris Gentile…), conferences, photo exhibitions and an eclectic musical program (DJ sets and lives).

Welcome to the 4th edition of the PSSFF.
